The Kurilpa Anarchist Bookfair took place on May 4 2025, one month ago in Magan’djin , Australia. Attracting perhaps three hundred participants, the event was a success, bringing together a broad range of anarchists in celebration of our shared ideology. As the Industrial Workers of the World note in their beautifully crafted review of the event , Kurilpa is an Indigenous word, “meaning ‘Water Rat’ and has been taken on to describe the peninsula on the Brisbane River that covers the inner-city suburbs of West End and South Brisbane”, where the bookfair took place. As the organisers of the bookfair, we extend our gratitude to our hosts at Jagera Community Hall, and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded.
