In July 2024, Left Voice’s sister site in Bolivia published an analysis of the MAS from 2006 to 2019. While much has happened since it was first published, we’ve translated the piece because it provides important context for the recent electoral defeat of the MAS after 20 years in power.

The Global Samud Flotilla has set sail to break the siege on Gaza, under threat of interception and repression by the Israeli state. In response, Italian dockworkers have announced that they are prepared to shut down the dock of Genoa, should Israel stop the flotilla from delivering aid to Gaza.

The Global Sumud Flotilla is the largest international maritime initiative in solidarity with Gaza in history. Socialists are taking part in this effort to break Israel’s illegal siege and the larger fight for Palestinian liberation.

Since Monday, protests have spread through Jakarta and other Indonesian cities and have been met by a deadly crackdown. Popular anger is growing against Parliamentary perks and police repression.

In January, Workers' Power, an organization claiming to be Marxist, was founded in Russia. Five months later, Putin's crackdown forced the organization to dissolve itself. One of its student activists, Garry Azaryan, was accused of "publicly calling for terrorism" and faces seven years in prison.
