This week in Brussels, farmers from across several countries, together with a broad coalition of around 40 trade unions and civil society organisations protested against these deals.

We are not asking for reforms at the margins. We are demanding transformation at the roots. On this 10th of September 2025, at the historic 3rd Nyeleni Global Forum being held in Kandy Srilanka, we reaffirm this collective commitment of global social movements and civil society organizations to build an alternative that is rooted in our lived realities.

From this space of unity, we express solidarity with the Haitian nation. We demand a solution to the crisis generated by the United Nations, and especially the United States. We must ask them: Why do weapons of war continue to arrive for the paramilitary groups that continue to massacre this country?

Palestine Solidarity La Via Campesina calls on its member organisations and allies to strengthen their actions in solidarity with the Palestinian people. In Palestine, the Israeli occupation regime is waging a genocidal war through starvation in Gaza while deepening its project of ethnic cleansing in the West Bank. We urgently appeal to all the civil society organisations and movements globally to intensify mobilisation against this genocide, which uses hunger as a weapon of ethnic cleansing.

Campaign for a Binding Treaty In 1972, Salvador Allende warned at the UN about corporate power and of a world where the fate of nations was subordinated to the balance sheets of distant shareholders. Over fifty years later, Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur in her recent report that charts the trajectory from an “economy of occupation” to an “economy of genocide”, highlights how the lack of regulation of transnational corporations has enabled impunity.

Our newsletter This August, La Via Campesina members in South Asia, together with other allied organisations, have been preparing for the Third Global Nyéléni Forum in Sri Lanka from 6 to 13 September 2025. On 10 September, we will intensify our struggle against these neoliberal institutions, defend small farmers and rural communities, and protect our food sovereignty and biodiversity.
